Undergraduate Physics Research Center
What's New?
- UPRC room has moved! The new room # is 6126 Urey hall.
The space is large enough to accommodate several groups at once-
almost 1000 ft^2. We also have books, a microwave, and
refrigerator.
- Read about the new Honors Program for
undergrad physics majors!
- I just created a Scholarships
page
- New Physics computing guides & UNIX manuals are
available in the Undergraduate affairs office. The improved manual
is updated to include UPRC information for Fall '95. They cost only
$1
- Check out our newsgroup!
You can post whatever you want. Some
ideas are books for sale or meeting times for a group.
- We're low on T-shirts!
If you have a
suggestion, or if you'd buy one of the proposed designs, please
e-mail with your intentions, so we know how many to make.
The Undergraduate Physics Research Center (UPRC) is the undergraduate
physics club for UCSD. We have bi-monthly meetings, which
include lectures and other miscelaneous events. If you wish to know
more about our organization, please see the more information page.
Physics T-shirts are also available
through the UPRC. In addition, UPRC member Greg Wood has written a
UNIX manual which explains how to get
started using UNIX.
UPRC Study room and resourse center: 6126 Urey Hall
The UPRC room is now ready! You may use the room to hold study
groups or just to do homework. There are some refrence books
available for use in the room, but please don't take them outside.
We currently have a limited test
/ quiz database on file, hard copies of the research
opportunites, and other important information. There will soon be a
computer terminal available as well.
If you
do not know anyone who has a key, and you or your group wishes to
use the room after normal school hours, please read the more information page to find out how to obtain
a key. Sally Huffman in Undergraduate Affairs has some keys for
students to borrow for a few hours if you wish to use the room for a
short time. We have asked her to take your I.D. when you check-out
a key, and you will recieve it when you return the key.
This is your gateway to any undergraduate research opportunities at
UCSD and anywhere else that we know of. All undergraduate
positions will be posted here when we get them. We hope to have a
search function available so you can search for all opportunities
containing the word "geophysics", for example. This page also
contains forms for researchers to fill out.
This page lists the top graduate schools in physics, as indicated by
the Gorman Report. Links are to the physics departments only. We
will add other links soon which will provide information about GREs
and other graduate programs.
All of the known scholarships are here for physicists. Links are
provided by the UCSD scholarship office. One link allows you to
search the web for independent scholarships.
